Anna Frank
Anna Frank was a German Jewish journalist who wrote a diary while hiding with her and four family friends in a house in Amsterdam during the German occupation of the Netherlands.
The diary, which was given to Anna as a gift for her 13th birthday, describes the events of her life from June 12, 1942, to the last day she wrote it, August 1, 1944. Written in Dutch, translated into many languages and it became one of the most widely read books in the world. Adapted for television, cinema, theater, and even opera.
The book gives a detailed account of daily life during the Nazi occupation; through her writings, Anne Frank became one of the most famous victims of the Holocaust.
Maya Angelou
Maya Angelou was an American poet, singer, painter, civil rights activist and university professor. He has published seven autobiographies, three studies, several poetry collections as well as a list of plays, films and television programs over 50 years. He has received dozens of awards and more than 50 honors. Angelou is best known for her seven autobiographies, which focus on her childhood and the early years of her adult life. Her first autobiography, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (1969) describes her life up to the age of 17 and gave her international recognition.
Angelou highlighted the experience of being of African descent in the United States. He is regarded by some of the most prominent American poets and writers as “one of the most important art forms of America in the last 50 years” and one of the “greatest forms of world literature”.
Malala Yousafzai is a young Pakistani girl who fights for the right of girls to education in her country.
At the age of 11 she began writing (using a nickname) on a blog, describing her life in the city of Mingora. On the morning of October 9, 2012, a man shot Malala Yousafzai in the head while she was inside a school bus, seriously injuring her. The day after the attack, she was hospitalized in a hospital in Pakistan and then, after her condition stabilized, was transferred to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital in England, which was selected from among many offers for her treatment.
The assassination attempt caused a burst of sympathy for the then 15-year-old schoolgirl, both in Pakistan and around the world.
Maria Curry
Maria Salomi Skudovska-Curie was a Polish physicist, chemist and professor. In collaboration with her husband, Pierre Curie, she discovered radio and studied the effects of radioactivity. He also discovered polonium and was the first woman to become a professor at the Sorbonne University, and was twice awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics and Chemistry. ‘She was the most famous science woman of her time, also known as Madame Curry.
In 1911 she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry by the Swedish Academy of Sciences, although a few months earlier the French Academy of Sciences had refused to accept her as a member. She is the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person to win two Nobel Prizes, and the only person to date who has received Nobel Prizes in different sciences.
